The Student Federal Credit Union at the University of Pennsylvania (SFCU) is the first and only credit union in the Ivy League and one of only two student-run credit unions in the United States, exclusively serving all University of Pennsylvania students, alumni, and their immediate families. Founded in 1987 by three enterprising Wharton MBA students, SFCU has been providing Quakers with secure, efficient, and convenient financial services for almost 40 years. With an office and two ATMs on campus and the largest surcharge-free ATM network in Philadelphia and across the United States, we serve Penn students like no one else can—as a non-profit organization, we provide dividend rates over 100% higher and fees over 25% lower than our leading competitors. SFCU, legally the University of Pennsylvania Students Federal Credit Union, is fully backed by the National Credit Union Administration and all member accounts are insured up to $250,000. The University of Pennsylvania Student Federal Credit Union is an independently operated financial institution run by University of Pennsylvania student volunteers and not part of or sponsored by the University of Pennsylvania.
