Studentsamskipnaden SiO is a student welfare organization owned and run by students, serving roughly 70,000 students across 27 institutions in Oslo and Akershus. Its services span housing, dining, child care, fitness, health care, and counseling, including ownership and operation of about 9,000 student apartments, around 40 dining and caffé venues, 10 kindergartens, six fitness centers, and a health and advisory service.
