Studio 8 is a filmmaker-driven media company based in Culver City, California, focused on building long-term collaborations with filmmakers to develop, produce and selectively acquire projects. It targets both potential tentpoles and prestige pictures, striving to align creative partners with titles that have broad audience appeal or critical merit. Its founder and chief executive is Jeff Robinov, who previously served as an executive at Warner Bros., eventually leading the Warner Bros. Pictures Group. During that tenure, the division supported a slate of commercially successful and critically acclaimed films, including The Dark Knight trilogy, Inception, Argo, and Gravity. Studio 8’s early project slate includes Alpha (in post-production under director Albert Hughes), White Boy Rick (in production with Yann Demange), and Ang Lee’s Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk released in partnership with Sony’s TriStar Pictures.
