Stuttgart Media University is a public higher education institution in Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, sponsored by the state. It was formed in 2001 through the merger of two predecessor schools—one focused on printing and media technologies, the other on library and information science—combining traditional strengths with modern media disciplines. The university offers a broad spectrum of programs across printed and electronic media, design, business administration, packaging technology, computer and information science, publishing, and advertising, and provides around 30 accredited bachelor’s and master’s degrees. With more than 5,000 students, it serves as an interdisciplinary center for media expertise and collaboration with industry partners. A notable 2023 development is a collaboration with ProAmpac to advance coated paper technologies for recyclable, high-performance papers.
