The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) is a public, independent authority with juristic personality responsible for the management, operation, use, maintenance, and improvement of the Suez Canal. Established on July 26, 1956, the SCA reports to the Prime Minister and has the authority to run the canal without being constrained by other government laws or systems. Located in Ismailia, Ismailia, Egypt, the SCA operates in the maritime transportation industry and employs between 1,001 and 5,000 people. It alone issues and enforces the navigation rules and other regulations governing the canal to ensure orderly and well-run operations. Recent activities include international collaborations to build tugboats, such as a partnership to construct two tugboats with a bollard pull of 80 tonnes, and the development of electric-powered river buses, reflecting efforts to expand domestic shipbuilding and maritime capabilities. Reported revenue is in the range of $50 million to $100 million.
