At Sumdog, our mission is to narrow the attainment gap and help every child reach their full potential through engaging, adaptive learning that makes maths practice both effective and enjoyable. Founded in Edinburgh in 2010 with the belief that all learners deserve an even playing field, regardless of ability, background, or confidence, Sumdog blends evidence-based pedagogy with game-based engagement to build fluency, confidence and resilience in mathematics.

Our adaptive platform tailors questions in real time to each learner’s level so every pupil can practise at the right pace, challenging advanced learners while supporting those who need extra time and reinforcement. With curriculum-aligned content for ages 5–14 and intuitive, auto-marked reporting, teachers gain actionable insights and can focus their expertise where it matters most.

We are proud that independent research shows statistically significant improvements in pupils’ maths attainment when using Sumdog across a school year, with particularly strong progress for learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN), lower-attaining pupils and those with lower self-esteem. Teachers consistently report increased engagement across all ability levels and higher homework completion compared to traditional practice.
