Summit Education Initiative is a research-focused organization based in Akron, Ohio, aiming to boost personal and regional prosperity by increasing educational attainment. It identifies the major educational challenges facing Summit County, tracks progress, and disseminates data and findings to inform local stakeholders. The organization also promotes collaborations among educators, community partners, and other actors, and develops prototype programs to test and refine strategies that remove barriers to high educational aspiration and achievement. 

Its work concentrates on Summit County, engaging local schools, teachers, and community groups in evidence-based efforts to improve education. In May 2019, SEI opened the third application period for its CLASS Act Scholars of Summit County program, an initiative designed to support kindergarten readiness through teacher development and professional support.
