SUNBURST Plant Disease Clinic, Inc. is situated in Turlock, California. Established in 1997 by Dr. Thomas T. Yamashita as full service agricultural laboratory, however, as a passionate farmer and scientist SUNBURST'S beginning goes back more than 30 years. Over the decades Dr. Tom has meticulously developed the methods used today to characterize samples and create his grower specific programs. SUNBURST'S primary focus is the trouble-shooting of various physiological, pathological and/or entomological problems plaguing agriculture today. The Diagnostics Team at SUNBURST can provide a range of plant and crop diagnostic services for the detection of pests, diseases and mineral deficiencies using both the conventional and molecular diagnostic methods. Our Scientific Team has a wealth of experience in real-time PCR and ELISA analysis as well as method development working with a wide range of plant/crop material. With a new dedicated DNA extraction laboratory together with the suite of existing labs, the team is able to offer an increasing number of diagnostic tests for detection of pests, fungal, bacterial and viral diseases. We have also launched a real-time PCR test for the identification and quantification of Meloidogyne species and Free Living Nematodes (FLN) which includes, amongst others, Ditylenchus spp., Trichodorus spp. And Pratylenchus spp. Diagnostic and analytical reports include educational background information and suggested program for remediating existing or anticipated problems. Sunburst also conducts investigatory and developmental research as well as educational seminars. Seminars can be arranged on various subjects upon request. Our work is frequently conducted in cooperation with Pest Control Advisors (PCA's), Chemical Company Representatives, Groundskeepers, Nursery Managers, Growers and Homeowners.
