Sunbury Generation LP is a utilities-focused company based in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania, and affiliated with Robindale Energy & Associated Companies. It formerly operated a four-unit coal-fired power plant in Shamokin Dam, with units commissioned between 1949 and 1953; coal-fired operations ceased in March 2014 and the site was deactivated in July 2014. Since then, Sunbury Generation has continued as a 41 MW peaker facility, consisting of 36 MW of oil-fired combustion turbine generation and 5 MW of diesel generation. The Sunbury site is being redeveloped as a Keystone Opportunity Expansion Zone, a program intended to spur industrial investment and job creation through tax benefits in the region. The redevelopment includes plans for the Panda Hummel 1,129 MW combined-cycle natural gas plant, with additional projects under consideration, while Sunbury Generation remains part of Robindale Energy & Associated Companies.
