With tremendous courage and big dreams to export scrap metal and secondary steel across the ocean to deep interiors of India - home of several mini-mills, SMI was founded in 2003.  Now, 17 years later, we have emerged from our humble beginnings to become Canada’s, privately-held, ISO Certified, leading exporter of scrap metal and secondary steel. 

We are strategically located at Hamilton Port, besides a full container terminal, which makes us a very unique scrapyard in Ontario. Our growing enterprise has its roots well-established in South-East Asian markets, with a primary focus on India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. A far-reaching geographic network means that we are optimally positioned to provide enhanced value to our customers for their scrap and secondary steel in these diverse markets.
