Surgical Technology Laboratories was purchased in 1993 by STL Group, Inc. from Dr. Richard Straith, Dr. Claire Straith’s son, who is the founder of the Straith Clinic (Detroit, MI). STL Group established Surgical Technology Laboratories, Inc. as a FDA Registered Medical Device Facility and Surgiform Technology, Ltd. (Surgiform) to serve as a sales and marketing organization.

Since its creation, Surgical Technology Laboratories, Inc./Surgiform has continued to develop manufacturing capabilities and a sales base within the cosmetic and plastic surgery markets and has expanded its initial product line of Silicone Facial Implants and Block to include ePTFE Facial Implants and Carvable Block, the Saf-T-Vac, PTFE Suture, and HexaPlast. In total Surgiform markets seven product lines in more than ten countries.
