Sustainable Futures reveals the unseen value in people we often overlook, and things we discard. This Boise, Idaho non-profit provides “green collar” vocational and life skills training to community members experiencing employment barriers. Here women recently released from prison, refugees, and at-risk youth between the ages of 18 and 21, convert glass bottles otherwise choking our landfills into drinking glasses, bowls, vases, and candles. The organization’s ultimate goal is for product sales to fund general operating costs, so they can balance what many progressive businesses call the triple bottom line—people, planet, and profit.
