The Swedish Judo Federation, founded in 1961, coordinates judo activity across Sweden through more than 150 clubs in 12 geographical districts and supports over 16,000 active judokas. These networks place the organization at the center of judo development and competition within the Swedish sports landscape. It is headquartered in Uppsala and is a member of major sport governance structures, including the Swedish Sports Confederation, the Swedish Olympic Committee, the European Judo Union, and the International Judo Federation. In February 2026, it was named Sports Federation of the Year for 2025 by the Swedish Sports Confederation, marking a notable recent development. The federation maintains a relatively small staff to manage its activities.
