Sweet Amber Distilling Co., established in 2018 and based in Columbus, Ohio, is a beverage manufacturer focused on whiskey production. Its flagship BLACKENED® Whiskey blends straight bourbons and ryes finished in brandy casks and uses a proprietary sonic-enhancement process known as BLACK NOISE. The project originated with Metallica and founding Master Distiller Dave Pickerell and is now produced under Master Distiller Rob Dietrich.

BLACKENED has earned industry recognition, including a 2022 Whisky Advocate rating and Top Whiskies ranking for Rye The Lightning, a 2021 Ascot Award Platinum for BLACKENED American Whiskey, and a 2022 John Barleycorn Award for Best Rye in the Master of Whiskey collaboration with Willett. In 2024, the brand launched a new version of Rye the Lightning.
