Syracuse Area Health is a regional health care provider in southeast Nebraska that operates a 10-bed Critical Access Hospital and a Level IV Trauma Center. Its newly built medical campus opened in 2018 at 2731 Healthcare Drive in Syracuse and encompasses hospital services along with the Syracuse Clinic, a family practice that has served the community since 1998. The organization expanded its service area to Weeping Water in 2008, adding an upgraded clinic and a new retail pharmacy just north of town, which opened in December 2022. Syracuse Area Health originated as Community Memorial Hospital District and is governed by five locally elected board members under the Nebraska Local Hospital District Act. In addition to hospital care, the system hosts Strasburger Orthopaedics with clinics in Lincoln, Syracuse, and Nebraska City, and it has pursued technology partnerships such as the Cerner HealtheLife patient portal rollout in 2021. Recent recognitions include Best Places to Work in Healthcare in 2026 and a Trauma Excellence Award in 2025.
