Syscoin is a technology company based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, operating in the information and internet sector. It seeks to combine the security characteristics of Bitcoin with the flexibility of Ethereum and to scale blockchain performance through zero-knowledge and optimistic rollups. The organization maintains a small to mid-sized team focused on blockchain infrastructure that enables cross-chain interoperability. In June 2026, cross-chain bridge activity highlighted a vulnerability that allowed the unauthorized minting of about 5 billion SYS tokens, after which the bridge was paused. Syscoin subsequently recovered and permanently burned the minted tokens to restore supply to pre-exploit levels, while the bridge remained offline.
