Tappan Chairs, LLC is a furniture maker based in Center Sandwich, New Hampshire, with a heritage that traces back to 1819. The company specializes in traditional New England–style chairs that are handcrafted in Sandwich, drawing on mid-19th century patterns used by the Tappan family. Its products emphasize simple, sturdy lines and the use of local woods, resulting in chair designs that blend a historic, handmade character with a contemporary feel. Operating in the furniture and home furnishings manufacturing industry, Tappan Chairs has maintained long-running production over generations, positioning its offerings as authentic, durable pieces tied to nearly two centuries of tradition. The business appears to operate with a very small staff, reflecting a artisanal scale of operation within a regional market. A recent development noted is the continuation of its historic chairmaking tradition, underscoring its status as a continuously evolving family craft rather than a mass-produced line.
