Target Hunger is a Houston-based nonprofit focused on alleviating hunger and its root causes in the northeast neighborhoods it serves. It provides both immediate food aid and programs designed to address poverty-related factors that contribute to food insecurity, and it relies on donors and volunteers to sustain its work. As a United Way agency, it is a major provider of direct food distribution to food insecure seniors, children, and families in Houston. In 2021, Target Hunger distributed over 1.5 million meals to more than 16,000 individuals. A 2022 collaboration with Lopezlit involved planting a community garden to improve access to fresh foods in northeast Houston.
