Insights

Cybersecurity Focus TAD has recently faced ransomware and potential security breach events, highlighting a need for enhanced cybersecurity, incident response planning, and security monitoring services to protect critical property tax systems and public data.

Website Modernization With reports of delayed website launch and operational issues around protests and security, there is an opportunity to offer robust web hosting, CMS optimization, uptime improvements, and user experience enhancements for public-facing appraisal services.

Digital Communication TAD relies on digital tools like SendGrid and online tax exemptions administration; consultants could propose scalable email deliverability, notification systems, and citizen engagement platforms to streamline exemptions and protest processes.

Financial Scale Revenue range of 25M–50M and a mid-sized government administration profile suggest opportunities for cost-effective IT modernization, cloud adoption, data analytics, and risk management solutions tailored for public sector budgets.

Public Sector Partnerships Recent leadership changes and collaboration with institutions (e.g., Texas A&M) indicate openness to strategic partnerships; consider offering governance, compliance, and training programs to support executive onboarding and operational resilience.

Tarrant Appraisal District (TAD) is a Texas political subdivision created in 1980 to oversee local property tax appraisal and exemption administration within Tarrant County. It is governed by a five-member Board of Directors appointed by taxing units in the county, with the Tarrant County assessor-collector serving as a nonvoting member, and the Chief Appraiser leading the district. Based in Fort Worth, TAD determines property values for seventy-three taxing jurisdictions and administers exemptions for homeowners, seniors, disabled persons, disabled veterans, and charitable or religious organizations.
Its primary customers are the local taxing units and property owners who rely on appraisals to calculate annual tax burdens. In March 2024, the district launched a new appraisal district website to improve access for stakeholders.
