Telemadrid is a public television broadcaster serving the Community of Madrid, producing and distributing content for a regional audience. The channel began transmitting on May 2, 1989, making it the region’s first autonomous television service and the fifth of its kind in Spain, after outlets in Catalonia, the Basque Country, Galicia and Andalusia. From the outset, it has been affiliated with the FORTA network and is owned by the regional government.
