The Texas Association of Broadcasters (TAB) is a Texas-based trade association representing more than 1,200 free, over-the-air radio and television stations. It works to promote a favorable economic and regulatory climate for broadcasting and to educate members and the public about opportunities enabled by free, over-the-air operations; it is based in Austin, with its permanent home established in 1999 after the organization formed in 1953. TAB has a 40-member policy-making Board of Directors and a small staff that support its activities. Membership is open to stations (commercial and non-commercial), companies doing business with the broadcast industry, students or educators, and retirees from the industry. Dues fund legislative advocacy, while other member services are funded through the NCSA program; in March 2022 TAB launched its Technical Academy to help Texas broadcasters manage day-to-day technology infrastructure.
