The Texas Association of Health Plans is a statewide trade association representing commercial and public health insurers, including Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, and individual market plans, and related health care organizations operating in Texas. Founded in 1987 and based in Austin, TAHP is a small- to mid-sized organization that coordinates efforts across the Texas health plan community. Its members provide coverage to more than 20 million people through employer-sponsored plans, individual plans, and public programs. The association serves as a forum for industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders, focusing on advocacy, education, and collaboration to address the state’s healthcare challenges. In 2023, TAHP partnered with the Texas EMS Alliance (TEMSA) to develop a legislative solution aimed at removing patients from out-of-network payment disputes while ensuring EMS agencies are reimbursed adequately to support emergency 911 services and medical transports.
