Texas Biomedical Research Institute, known as Texas Biomed, is an independent biomedical research institution focused on advancing health through collaborative scientific inquiry and international partnerships. It operates from a 200-acre campus on the northwest side of San Antonio, Texas, and hosts the Southwest National Primate Research Center, including a pedigreed colony of nonhuman primates that supports humane, rigorous research. The institute also houses the nation's privately owned biosafety level 4 laboratory, enabling work on highly dangerous pathogens for which there are no treatments.
