Texas Digital Library is a multi-university consortium that provides the digital infrastructure needed to support a fully online scholarly community for Texas higher education institutions. Based in Austin, the organization was founded in 2005 by four Texas members of the Association of Research Libraries and now welcomes any Texas higher education institution as a member. By establishing shared policies and standards, facilitating professional interaction, and applying expertise in digital collections and preservation, the consortium aims to broaden access to Texas universities' intellectual capital and safeguard it for future generations. The customer base consists of Texas colleges and universities seeking coordinated digital infrastructure and services to manage scholarly outputs. The group operates with a small team within the libraries sector, positioning itself as a collaborative service provider that enables institutions to work together on digital policy, access, and preservation. In recent updates, the GIS Interest Group announced the opening of the 2026 TDL Awards nomination period.
