The Texas Society of Architects (TxA) is a professional membership organization in the architecture and planning field, founded in 1939 as the Texas component of the American Institute of Architects. It operates as a 501(c)(6) entity representing about 7,500 architects and serves as the voice for Texas architecture through advocacy, knowledge, and communication. Based in Austin, it is the third largest regional component of AIA National and coordinates with 18 local components. The organization aims to advance the architecture profession and the built environment by promoting safe, beautiful, and sustainable design. It is governed by a Board of Directors and supported by staff and active committees, with its membership model and the annual conference driving the budget. It also hosts the Texas Architects Committee political action organization and the Texas Architectural Foundation, which provides scholarships to Texas architecture students, and it publishes Texas Architect, a bimonthly magazine; in late 2025, it participated in its Annual Conference & Design Expo drawing more than 2,000 attendees.
