The Thayer Street District Management Authority is a small organization based in Providence, Rhode Island, operating as a Business Improvement District since January 2006. It was established by Thayer Street property owners and authorized by the City of Providence and Rhode Island General Law 45-59-14(b), defining the district as the area bordered by Bowen Street, Hope Street, Waterman Street and the rear lot lines of parcels facing Thayer Street. The authority has led improvements to the public realm, including sidewalks, stamped crosswalks, trash cans, lighting, trees, recycling programs, daily sidewalk cleaning, and graffiti removal. As the district's management and maintenance entity, it coordinates district operations within the Business Improvement District framework to support the needs of property owners and local businesses. In 2013, the City Planning Department worked with a consultant team and TSDMA to develop a plan for the district's future; the Final Thayer Street Planning Study is available online. A 2019 development noted in local coverage is a partnership with The Wheeler School to create murals along Thayer Street, reflecting ongoing community collaboration.
