Abbott Ball was founded in 1909 by George Edward Abbott to manufacture steel balls. In 1911, a new manufacturing facility was built on the site of a pre-Revolutionary War commercial pottery. That site, after numerous expansions, is still Abbott's corporate location. Today, the company supplies precision bearing balls, stainless steel balls of all types, along with carbon steel and specialty balls, to customers worldwide. Abbott Ball Company has a legacy of innovation: George Abbott recognized that, in addition to conventional applications for bearings and other products, steel balls could also be used to clean and finish the surfaces of metal objects. The burnishing media that Abbott makes today are derived from that initial idea. However, shapes were developed throughout our history to finish nearly any part surface, no matter how complex. Abcut™, Abbott's patented, knurled media, deburrs material with a more aggressive action. Abbott offers a range of ball products, from drill balls to those from exotic materials, for industries from automotive and aerospace to electronics. Ownership remained in the Abbott family for generations. It was eventually assumed by another family management team committed to continuing the traditions and expanding the innovations of Abbott Ball. Roger A.L. Bond is the Chief Executive Officer. His son, Craig Bond is President. This history of family reputation, reliability, innovation and value is why Abbott Ball Company can work for you.
