The Akshaya Patra Foundation is a not-for-profit organization headquartered in Bengaluru, Karnataka, founded in 2000. It runs a large mid-day meal program in government and government-aided schools across 16 states and two union territories, serving about 2.1 million children on school days. Since its inception, it has cumulatively served more than 3.5 billion meals. Beyond school meals, the organization has responded to humanitarian crises by delivering cooked meals and grocery kits to affected communities, including specialized provisions for mid-day meal beneficiaries, anaemic pregnant women, and families. It has supported public health initiatives such as vaccination drives in marginalized communities to address vaccine hesitancy and sustain livelihoods. In early 2026, it participated in the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, operating a food kiosk to provide meals to attendees as part of its broader engagement.
