The Arc of Virginia is a nonprofit organization that promotes and protects the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and supports their full inclusion in community life throughout their lives. As the state chapter of The Arc, it coordinates with 26 local chapters across Virginia to help individuals access needed services and to provide family support during the process. It advocates for all people with ID/DD regardless of age, diagnosis, or complexity of support needs, including those living in communities and in institutions. Based in Richmond, Virginia, the organization operates within the individual and family services sector. It works to connect people with ID/DD and their families to resources and advocacy that enable access to services and broader community participation. In early 2023, it began developing a series of informative videos and how-to guides intended to highlight experiences and the value of including people with disabilities in inclusive neighborhoods, workplaces, and communities in Virginia.
