The Art Station is a nonprofit organization in the mental health care sector based in Fort Worth, Texas, founded in 2004, that provides art therapy to help people address difficult life challenges. Art therapists are licensed counselors with master's degrees and/or extensive specialized training in using art-making within a therapeutic setting, and their work centers on the process of creating art rather than the finished product. The organization serves individuals dealing with depression and other mental health issues, behavioral problems, traumatic experiences, grief and loss, chronic illnesses, developmental delays, and school problems linked to low self-esteem, anxiety, or attention issues, while also supporting self-discovery and growth. In sessions, the act of making art creates a visual language that helps clients recognize, express, and process emotions that can keep them stuck in difficult life circumstances. The Art Station is housed in the renovated historic Fire Station #16 in Fort Worth and serves the North Texas community as a nonprofit.
