The Bazelon Center for Mental Health Law is a nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C., dedicated to improving the lives of people with mental illnesses through policy reform and legal action. For more than four decades, its legal and policy advocates have pursued impact litigation, policy reform, and public education to secure rights in housing, employment, education, public systems, health care, and the judiciary. The center envisions an America where individuals with mental disabilities can exercise their life choices and access resources that enable participation in their communities. Its work targets people with mental illnesses and the institutions and public systems that affect housing, education, health care, employment, and justice. In December 2022, the Bazelon Center filed a lawsuit against Yale University and its governing body, alleging systemic discrimination against students with mental health disabilities.
