It was a quick spin around the block on their kid’s bikes that first motivated Tom and Nancy Revard to get into cycling. That “quick spin” turned into a couple of hours and a family obsession was born. Tom and Nancy soon got the whole family of eight involved in cycling and eventually opened the family business, The Bike Line, in 1979. Nearly 20 years later, the Revards opened their current Bike Line, Carmel, location in 1997. Today, The Bike Line is owned by Charlie, Bill and Jimmy Revard, and specializes in Trek Bicycles, of Waterloo, Wisconsin. Bike Line takes pride in featuring the best selection of Trek bikes in the area and is the largest dealer of Zipp wheels, a premium brand of wheels raced all over the world by top professionals, in Indiana. Bill explained that one doesn’t have to be a professional rider to enjoy professional-quality equipment. “It’s a rewarding way to get more enjoyment and performance out of your sport,” says Bill, “and, it makes for a better, higher-intensity workout.” The Bike Line offers year-round group rides on Thursday nights and, in the off-season, yoga classes on Monday nights and power-based cycling classes on other weeknights, all of which will continue at the new store in Carmel City Center. They are also active in the Carmel community by participating in Tour de Carmel and other charity ride events. The Bike Line is excited to move to CarmelCityCenter because of the synergies among the businesses. It presents a new type of opportunity for retail, restaurant and small businesses that has appeal for its customers. According to Jimmy, “The other retailers and restaurants at Carmel City Center have the same commitment to customer service that we do. We already shop and dine there and our customers do, too!” The Bike Line opened its Carmel City Center location in spring 2012.
