Located at 340 Beach Drive N in St. Petersburg, Florida, The Birchwood is the place to be with an inn, a fine dining restaurant, and a rooftop bar. The Birchwood owner, Chuck Prather, chose The Birchwood name to honor his father, who once developed a neighborhood in Hillsborough County by the same name. The southern exterior of the concrete addition is adorned with a 12-by-24-foot mural of a birch forest. The Birchwood was originally constructed in 1924 as the Lantern Lane Apartments and the only apartments along Beach Drive facing the waters of Tampa Bay. The Spanish Mission-style building, listed in the National Registry of Historic Places, underwent a renovation of historically accurate dimensions with the addition of two floors. Forbes boasts The Birchwood Inn as “The place to stay” when visiting St. Petersburg. With only 18 rooms, the boutique inn provides a quaint yet modern stay in the heart of the waterfront district. Just a quick walk to The Pier and Central Avenue, The Birchwood Inn maintains a bed and breakfast feel while offering world-class dining and still keeping you in the heart of the local shopping, art and nightlife scene. Voted by the Tampa Bay Times as a top ten restaurant in the Tampa Bay area, The Birch and Vine offers a lunch and dinner menu equipped to satisfy your curious palette. Head chef, Jason Cline, utilizes his years of experience meshed with his natural creativity to create a menu of truly original dishes. By putting a unique spin on many classic Florida favorites, the Birch and Vine offers a dining experience like no other. Perched atop the encompassing Birchwood property, The Canopy provides an escape from the downtown bar scene norm. Cabanas and fire pits set the tone for an outdoor nightlife scene that cannot be found anywhere else in St. Pete. Look out across the bay while enjoying one of our signature cocktails, utilizing only the freshest ingredients.
