The Brookwood Community is a Texas nonprofit that provides an integrated program for adults with disabilities, combining education, meaningful work, and residential living. Its day program began in 1983, and the first residential Citizens joined in 1985, creating a campus-based model with a 485-acre main site in Brookshire and two satellite locations in Richmond and The Woodlands. On campus and at the satellites, Citizens participate in work across several enterprises, supported by facilities such as an indoor pool and gym, an interfaith worship center, and an on-site health clinic. Brookwood serves adults with disabilities from diverse economic backgrounds and offers scholarship support to enable participation. The organization operates from its Brookshire campus with satellite sites in Richmond and The Woodlands, and has pursued community partnerships, including a 2021 collaboration with Howard Hughes Corp. to host the Brookwood Holiday Store at Hughes Landing in The Woodlands.
