The Cast Iron Soil Pipe Institute (CISPI) is a trade organization founded in 1949 by leading American manufacturers of cast iron soil pipe and fittings. Based in Mundelein, Illinois, it operates within the construction sector to support the plumbing industry by coordinating technical work and advancing industry standards for cast iron soil pipe and fittings. Through the preparation and distribution of technical reports and a program of cooperative research among member manufacturers, CISPI aims to improve the quality, manufacture, use, and distribution of these products, while promoting standardization and ongoing testing and development. Its activities help both the plumbing industry and its member firms by fostering standardized products and the introduction of new offerings. Assurance that pipes and fittings meet approved standards and tolerances is provided through the CI NO-HUB marks and other collective marks that member companies may place on their products.
