The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility, previously known as The Century Council, is a Washington, DC-based nonprofit focused on reducing alcohol-impaired driving and underage drinking and on guiding ongoing conversations about alcohol responsibility. It is funded by America's leading distillers. Since its inception, the organization notes progress including a 37% drop in alcohol-impaired driving fatalities and declines in 30-day alcohol use among high school students: 61% among 8th graders, 50% among 10th graders, and 35% among 12th graders. In May 2026, Responsibility.org launched CARS Connect, a cloud-based version of the CARS screening tool, developed in collaboration with the Division on Addiction at Cambridge Health Alliance, a Harvard Medical School teaching hospital. The organization positions itself within the civic and social sector, pursuing research-informed initiatives and partnerships to reduce drinking and driving and to delay alcohol initiation.
