The Collaborative is a mid-sized architecture and planning consulting firm based in Boston, New England. It has a national reputation for excellence in planning, design, and communications, tracing its origins to 1990 as an outgrowth of Wallace Floyd Associates with ties to Buckminster Fuller; early work included projects such as Epcot Center and the United States Pavilion at Expo 67. In planning, the firm aims to create welcoming, dynamic, and environmentally sound communities and places. Its design approach draws on nature, history, and culture to produce work that is relevant, thought-provoking, and expressive of a story. The Communications Group, which has won five Emmy Awards, focuses on uncovering what people care about to shape campaigns that inform and engage; in late 2023 the firm co-managed a Vermont initiative and issued a Subaward Request for Applications for Region Four of the Vermont State Prevention Lead grant.
