The Composting Network LLC is a New Orleans-based company founded in 2010 that focuses on commercial composting as a means to divert pre-consumer food waste from local sources. By collecting materials such as vegetable peels, fruit tops and cores, coffee grounds, and other scraps from residents, businesses, schools, universities, and restaurants, the firm turns these inputs into natural compost used to nourish pesticide-free fruits, vegetables, herbs, and mushrooms grown in local community gardens. Its services are directed at customers seeking a cost-effective, convenient way to manage pre-consumer waste while obtaining a tangible environmental benefit. The company operates within the renewable energy and waste-to-resource landscape, positioning itself as a local provider of composting solutions in Louisiana, with a real-time accountability system that reports monthly waste diversion metrics to partners. Recent activity includes a collaboration noted in early 2020 with Centerplate to convert restaurant-generated compost into nutrients for community gardens. The organization maintains a presence online and on social media to document its activities and offerings.
