The San Antonio Conservation Society, founded in 1924, is among the oldest historic preservation nonprofits in the United States. Based in San Antonio, Texas, it works to protect the city’s historic and cultural fabric, including the Missions, the King William neighborhood, and rural farm and ranch complexes. With more than 1,600 members, the organization operates as a mid-sized nonprofit focused on preservation and public education.

Its programs include Heritage Education Tours for fourth-grade classrooms, Educational Seminars and Workshops for teachers and the public, Community Grants for bricks-and-mortar preservation and educational projects, and Building & Publication Awards. Each spring the organization hosts A Night in Old San Antonio at La Villita, a major fundraising event that draws over 85,000 visitors to support its preservation programs.
