The Crucible is a nonprofit educational facility in the fine and industrial arts. It provides training across both fine and industrial disciplines and also serves as an accessible arts venue for the general public. The organization emphasizes collaboration among artists, industry practitioners, and the community, and promotes creative expression and the reuse of materials. Based in Oakland, California, The Crucible traces its origins to 1999 when it was established in Berkeley and moved to Oakland in 2003. As a mid-sized nonprofit in the fine arts education field, it serves students and the broader Bay Area community; in November 2023 it named Seth Steward as Executive Director ahead of its 25th anniversary.
