The Detroit Writing Room, based in Detroit, Michigan, opened in June 2019 as a space for writers to work, write, and connect with a community of creators. When the COVID-19 pandemic began, it shifted its programs online, continuing writing workshops, coaching, and talks while assisting writers in publishing across fiction, nonfiction, poetry, memoirs, and articles. Members and guests can access a roster of 30 professional coaches who provide feedback and editing for both business communications and literary works, drawing on backgrounds in journalism, publishing, English, and public relations; the team also includes a literary agent to help with publishing queries and navigating the industry.
