The Documentary Group is an independent production company founded in 2006 with offices in New York and Los Angeles. It develops and produces long-form and short-form documentary content for major networks, public television, and cable, as well as for education, digital distribution, and theatrical release. Led by president and co-founder Tom Yellin, the company has produced projects such as Cartel Land, Midsummer in Newtown, Girl Rising, and Operation Homecoming, along with TV specials and series for CNN, PBS, Discovery, and Science. The group's programs have earned industry honors including duPont, Peabody, Emmy, Gabriel, and Polk awards. In 2017, it received a CINE Golden Eagle award for a nonfiction current affairs feature connected to the project We Will Rise.
