The Excelsior Group was formed by Chris Culp, Kim Culp, and Ted Glasrud in 2005 as a multifamily management, development, and acquisition company. Over the next 15 years, the company substantially grew its multifamily management and development business while evolving into a broad real estate platform supporting several other business ventures including land development, brokerage services, commercial property management, homebuilder lending, and marketing and branding. During 2021, the majority of the businesses incubated on The Excelsior Group's platform spun off or merged with other firms; today, those companies are successful, independent real estate companies.
