The Great Lakes Group is a Cleveland-based marine transportation company that includes The Great Lakes Towing Company and Great Lakes Shipyard, with Soo Linehandling Services as part of its family of businesses. The Great Lakes Towing Company is the largest U.S.-flag tugboat operator on the Great Lakes, offering local harbor towing, docking and undocking, interport towing, icebreaking, and rescue and assistance to grounded or damaged ships, supported by a fleet of nearly forty tugboats stationed across U.S. Great Lakes ports. Great Lakes Shipyard operates a full-service Cleveland facility with a 900-ton Marine Travelift, focusing on construction and repair of tugboats, barges, science vessels, supply boats, ferries, excursion vessels, dinner boats, large yachts, and off-site topside work. In 2024, the group expanded its operations with the acquisition of BargeWorx, LLC and the launch of a Caribbean breakbulk service. These developments reflect The Great Lakes Group's ongoing diversification of its marine services from its Cleveland base.
