The GW Hatchet is an editorially and financially independent newspaper that serves The George Washington University community in downtown Washington, D.C. Founded in 1904, it is the second oldest newspaper in the city. Operating within the newspaper publishing industry, it delivers campus-focused news and commentary to GW students, faculty, and staff. Hatchet Publications, Inc., a standalone nonprofit, produces the paper and is headquartered in a townhouse at 609 21st St NW in Foggy Bottom.
