The Hidden Genius Project, founded in 2012 and based in Oakland, California, operates within the civic and social sector to address the gap between unemployment among Black male youth and opportunities in the local tech economy. It runs a holistic, project-based program that develops technology creation, entrepreneurship, and leadership skills in Black male youth, supported by mentorship and real-world experiences through its Intensive Immersion, Catalyst, and Community Partner Programs. Its target audience is Black male youth, with the aim of unlocking their potential and transforming their communities from the inside out. The organization seeks to connect participants to an ecosystem of innovation that enables them to pursue technology-related careers or entrepreneurship. In April 2024, it expanded with a Baltimore chapter and hosted a Tech Slam for local youth.
