The History Museum at the Castle is a museum and historical site located in downtown Appleton, Wisconsin, at 330 East College Avenue. It traces its origins to 1872 when it was founded as the Pioneer Association, and it is part of the Outagamie County Historical Society that preserves the history of the Fox Cities in east central Wisconsin. The building is a former Masonic Temple, which gives the institution its Castle designation. The museum seeks to inspire discovery and appreciation of Fox Valley history through exhibitions, education, and collections, and it has received national recognition, including the IMLS National Medal for Museum and Library Service in 2018. The organization has 11-50 employees and maintains a website at https://myhistorymuseum.org; in recent years it has engaged in partnerships with organizations such as World Relief (2024) and Wisconsin Public Radio (2020).
