WHO WE ARE The Hydrographic Society of America (THSOA) was incorporated in the State of Maryland (United States) as a non-profit organization in 1984 and was granted 501(c)(3) status as a non-profit organization by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service in 1985. Chapters have now been formed as the focal point for hydrographic activities in these areas: > Houston (serves Houston and surrounding areas) > Latin America (serves all of Latin America) > Southeast (serves Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma and South Carolina) > Midwest (serves Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota & Wisconsin) > West Coast (those residing west of the Rockies including Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming and Hawaii) > Mid-Atlantic Chapter (serves Washington, DC and surrounding areas including Delaware, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia. > New England Chapter (serves Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut) Our total membership now stands at 600+. OUR MISSION THSOA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to promoting education in offshore survey, positioning and mapping, including hydrography and related earth sciences.
