At the Institute for Behavioral Sciences and the Law, we understand that the interface between psychology and the law is not always an easy alliance. However, mental health issues and experts have become an integral part of the legal process. As a result, judges and attorneys who practice any area of law - criminal, family, or civil - are likely to have cases that are complicated by mental health-related issues. Given the frequency with which these issues arise in legal cases today, judges and attorneys frequently must seek out mental health experts to assist them in answering questions relevant to legal issues. The Institute for Behavioral Sciences and the Law was established to offer such specialized services to the legal community.
