The Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg (JMU) is a long-established higher education institution based in Würzburg, in the Bavarian region of Germany. Founded in 1402, it comprises ten faculties that cluster into four primary domains: Humanities; Law and Economics; Life and Natural Sciences; and Technology. The university educates about 28,000 students, including around 2,100 international students, and, together with its hospital, supports a substantial workforce across academic and support roles. To support growth, the university is expanding its infrastructure with new study programs, increased student intake, and facilities such as the Rudolf Virchow Center for Experimental Biomedicine, the University Hospital, and a central lecture hall and seminar building. In recent research activity, Würzburg researchers have collaborated with DLR to design rover wheels inspired by sandfish locomotion, and have launched a tool for analyzing RNA molecules.
